Opening hours of the service sections of the DPMA
The inquiry units, search rooms, document receiving services and cash desks of the DPMA are open.
Munich receiving service, including the cash desk, is closed until further notice. Mail items are accepted at the gate, cash deposits are currently not possible.

| Face-to-face advice and initial consultations for inventors are provided subject to appointment only. Outside our opening hours, you can use the automated mailboxes in Berlin and Jena. In Munich, you can hand in any mail and items at the reception desk. | ||

Public holidays
The offices of the DPMA are closed on Sundays and public holidays.
The following table provides an overview of public holidays for the next year.
The following applies to the observance of time limits for submitting documents and for procedural acts: If the last day of a period falls on a Sunday or a holiday or a Saturday, the period shall end on the next working day (section 193 of the Civil Code).
All public holidays applicable at at least one of the DPMA locations will be recognised for the purpose of extending a time limit, irrespective of the location where the act required to meet the time limit is actually performed (section 18a of the DPMA Ordinance). The acts and declarations that are subject to a time limit can be performed or made at all three DPMA locations in Munich, Jena and Berlin in order to meet the time limit.
